Diabetes Conference Videos
- 21 March 2017
At the recent Diabetes UK Professional Conference a number of videos were made that may be of interest to Harrow patients!
Firstly one summarising highlights of the presentations, featuring Prof John Wilding and Dr Partha Kar (in his Batman T shirt!) who is the Associate Clinical Director for Diabetes, NHS England. The video refers to in patient care and hypo reductions, type 2 research, the difficulties of diagnosing middle aged people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes and the new Clinical Studies Groups that will be working to decide on future diabetes research priorities.
This second link shows 3 short interviews with Dr Nita Farouhi (on diet and type 2 diabetes), Prof Noel Morgan (on understanding type 1 diabetes) and Prof Solomon Tesfaye, all conducted by Charlotte Austin, who was a patient interviewer at the conference.
Prof Tesfaye gave a brilliant lecture on diabetes neuropathy, looking at the causes and treatments availble and suggesting that all patients could benefit from better screening using specilaised hand held equipment which could be done at the same time as eye screening. Watch this space - it sounds like a great idea!
