Diabetes UK Professional Conference
- 21 March 2017
Following a competition in December, two member of the Harrow group, Lis Warren and Philippa Cooper, were lucky to win places as patient bloggers at this year's Professional Conference in Manchester. The event is a mecca for thousands of doctors, researchers and other specialists from all over the world each year, so is a great place to hear about new treatments, the latest research, new medications and technologies for treating diabetes.
Lis took the opportunity to talk to many clinicians about what they'd like to advise people with diabetes to do and also what things might make their lives as diabetes professionals easier. You can read their interesting feedback by clicking here:
She's also written a blog about food, overeating and weight in relation to the management of diabetes, which features two professionals who have visited and worked in Harrow, Rosie Walker of Successful Diabetes and Dr Jen Nash, a clinical psychologist who came to a Harrow CCG Diabetes Day last year. Click below to read about the rising tide of weight problems, how non hungry eating contributes and how bariatric surgery is considered a type 2 diabetes miracle cure for some.
And if you use Twitter, check out the hashtag #DUKPC for thousands of information snippets from the speakers' slides as well as those attending the event.
An article about the bloggers' experiences will feature in the summer edition of BALANCE magazine!
