These GPs from NW London, who are now working closely with Harrow and other local Clinical Commissing Groups, scooped two prizes at the Quality in Care annual Diabetes Awards on 12 October 2017. The Awards were presented by Simon O'Neill (right) who is Director of Health Intelligence and Professional Liaison at Diabetes UK.
The Awards were given for Transforming Diabetes Care at scale in NW London and Preventing [type 2] Diabetes in NW London. This is hugely significant for Harrow patients as the GP leading the work, Dr Tony Willis (2nd from left), is the clincial lead for the Diabetes Transformation work across NW London, of which Harrow is part.
The excellent work done by these winning doctors is now being shared across Brent, Harrow and Hillingdon and hopefully their success in preventing type 2 diabetes will spread and the rise in type 2 diagnoses will eventually cease. In addition, the good practice they've used in caring for those already diagnosed will also spread and all patients will benefit.
Many congratulations to the team!
